Nicole Dade is a screenwriter, story developer and script producer. She is English with Australian citizenship, lives in Sydney near the ocean with her children and dog, and works globally. She’s visual arts trained, and worked as a fashion designer in London before she entered the screen industry.

Nicole is Development Producer for Leah Purcell and Bain Stewart's company, Oombarra Productions, helping develop their slate of projects that spans all mediums, including film, TV, publishing and games, drawing on their unique and exciting approach to creating and exploiting IP.

Having written all her life, Nicole recently segued into screenwriting, and several of her own TV and film projects are under option. She has been commissioned for several films that use her love of genre, and she is developing a rom com, a psychological thriller and a supernatural mystery. She also contributes to writers’ rooms, and supports writers and producers as a story developer. Some recent production credits include script editor of Jonathan Ogilvie's IFRR opening film, Head South (2024), associate producer and script editor of Leah Purcell’s acclaimed feature film, The Drover’s Wife the Legend of Molly Johnson (Roadshow 2022), and script producer for award-winning series, Barrumbi Kids (SBS/NITV 2023.)

Nicole is highly regarded for her expertise in screen story craft and genre, and she designs and present international story workshops, using her own programme, ELEMENTS OF STORY, which she created in 2023.

Nicole has 15 years’ experience in the international screen industry as senior creative executive. At Screen Australia she developed a significant slate of projects, including The Babadook, The Dressmaker, Lion, Last Cab to Darwin, 2067, Jasper Jones, Berlin Syndrome and Ali’s Wedding. In the UK, she was head of production and development at UK BFI screen agency, Screen South. Nicole started her career as production manager at First Take Films, which produced short films for TV and theatrical distribution, by filmmakers including Mike Barker, John Hardwicke and Andrea Arnold.
